Physical Education
'At Howden School, we aim to provide pupils with a varied and competitive curriculum that builds the foundations for sports performance and excellence. Pupils will acquire skills and knowledge that will encourage them to embrace competition and thrive in it.
Pupils will learn how to plan, perform and evaluate actions, ideas and performances to improve their quality and effectiveness. Through this process, students discover their aptitudes, abilities and preferences and make choices about how to get involved in lifelong physical activity. We strive to ensure all students, regardless of their ability, achieve their full potential and are provided with a variety of opportunities that will enable them to pursue physical activity and sport in years to come.
Through sport and exercise, students are given the opportunity to develop lifelong skills such as teamwork, leadership and resilience as well as developing an appreciation for the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. The varied curriculum will allow pupils, regardless of ability, to make progress and build confidence within the range of activities that we offer both in lessons and during extra-curricular sessions.'
